Releasing 10,000 baby Chinook Salmon in Port Credit Village Marina on 6th May 2015."It won't look like much when we do it. We have been raising them in a small pen since April 11. All we'll do is flip the pen oven. During the past four weeks these salmon have doubled in size and 'imprinted' on the river. For now, they will be eating a ton of midges (which is awesome!). Soon they will be eating alewife, a herring-like invasive species that's plentiful in Lake Ontario. In about three years, they will return home to the Credit River to spawn as 25 to 35 pound adults. We want to thank City staff at the marina who volunteer many hours after work and on weekends to support this community project." - Brian Lambie.
