Spirit of Bollywood to dazzle families, kids and youth at official TO2015 IGNITE premium event



BRAMPTON, ON: MonstrARTity Creative Community (MCC) is pleased to announce IGNITE Bollywood, an official TO2015 IGNITE event for the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games. IGNITE Bollywood brings together world-class performers for a spectacular variety show featuring live music, dance and comedy acts with a FREE KidZone. It will be at the Rose Theatre Brampton on Saturday, July 11 starting at 5:00 PM.

"We're excited to present a fantastic lineup celebrating the spirit of the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games with this official IGNITE event," says Vikas Kohli, Executive Director, MonstrARTity. "Our IGNITE Bollywood show brings incredible South Asian, Latin and Canadian performances to one stage. Along with our Bollywood Monster Orchestra, What's On? TAP! and Divine Heritage Artistry, we have some outstanding comedians from Fade to Brown promising hilarious entertainment for the whole family! Join us for amazing food, the free KidZone, free Bollywood and Flamenco dance lessons, and more fun than you can shake a samosa at!"  
 
IGNITE Bollywood offers activities and entertainment for the whole family. It features: 
  • A free KidZone starting at 5:00 PM in the Rose Square outside the Rose Theatre Brampton, offering kids' arts, crafts, sports and dance activities
  • IGNITE Bollywood Variety Show starting at 7:00 PM on the Rose Theatre Main Stage, featuring live Bollywood and Latin fusion music, dance and comedy performances.

Lopa Sarkar and Divine Heritage Artistry 
Lopa Sarkar is the founder of the fusion dance company Divine Heritage Artistry. Her work has been showcased at festivals around the world including Luminato in Toronto, WOMAD in London, and the International Music Festival in Wales. Lopa Sarkar and Divine Heritage Artistry is a company committed to excellence in the performing arts. It showcases the fusion of diversities found within its creative team of artists and performers and promotes unity through music and dance.
Ferzana
With a versatile voice that delivers both feel and punch, Ferzana is dedicated to music. She has performed before and has been appreciated for her talent by a number of Bollywood celebrities including Anu Malik, Shafqat Amanat Ali, Alka Yagnik and Sukhwinder Singh. 
Himanshu Merchant
Himanshu is a talented and versatile singer, songwriter, and composer. Himanshu has consistently received immense critical and audience acclaim for his memorable and charismatic performances in the Indian Vocal Contest. He was a semi-finalist and had the opportunity to perform for renowned Indian Classical singer Pandit Jasraj. 

Kim Chalovich and What's On? TAP! 
An established choreographer, tap dancer, teacher and producer, Kim Chalovich and her tap company, What's On? TAP!  have proven to be a toe-tapping success! Performance credits include "the Fringe", TAP!, Dance Ontario's Dance Weekend, and JUBA!, in Chicago (performing and presenting workshops at the Chicago Human Rhythm Project). The professional cast members of What's On? TAP! include:  Samantha Baldwin, Jessica Westermann, Kristy Best, Katie Bryan, Robyn Hamilton, Cheryl Hartley, Veronica Lincoln, Sarah Dowhun, Shalini Krishnan, Amy Lintunen, Genevieve Fullerton.
Nick ReynoldsonA bark like a Chihuahua but a bite like a Rottweiler, Nick Reynoldson is an animal.
Like a rose that grew between the cracks in the concrete, he was bred in Scarborough (except not like a rose at all, more like a dandelion that has been trampled on for years).
He is a rising star in the comedy scene with performances at The Nubian Show at Yuk Yuks, The Second City, and a feature performer at Absolute Comedy.
This young man is a must see... just don't get too close, after all he does have a bite like a Rottweiler.
Ernie VicenteErnie Vicente is a stand-up comedian from Toronto, Ontario. With his surreal observations and quick one-liners, Ernie has been entertaining audiences for the past 5 years, starting at the world-famous Yuk Yuk's comedy club in Toronto. Since then, he has performed in clubs such as Absolute Comedy, The Rivoli, The Second City, Yuk Yuk's, Montreal's ComedyWorks. Ernie is looking forward to performing in front of audiences all across Canada, and then the world.
Preeti Torul (Burn Notice)  Self-described as, "I'm just a squirrel trying to get a nut," this London-born, Creole-speaking performer, Preeti (Pree-Tee), has been involved in improv for the past three years in Toronto. Preeti loves to make people smile and giving side-eye.

Nelu Handa (Burn Notice)
Nelu Handa is a member of the comedy duo Burn Notice with Preeti Torul. 
Amish Patel   
As a comedian and entrepreneur, Amish loves writing and performing comedy. Over the years he's put on tons of great shows including a sold out night at the Panasonic Theater, garnered local and national media coverage including NOW Magazine and CBC Radio One and acquired funding to shoot a televised sketch comedy special. Amish started his career as a writer when he created a Toronto-based, ethnic sketch comedy group called Fade to Brown. He's currently working on a live weekly comedy show supported by online comedy videos and a dating podcast that is now featured in the New and Noteworthy section on iTunes.
